Screaming in Digital - Issue 279
April 30th, 2002Editor’s Notes
Well, the front page of this did say something about getting back
onto a regular schedule, so how about another issue? Let’s see if
between whatever info I can rustle up, and whatever everyone sends
in, we can keep this on an every-two-weeks sort of schedule for a
bit. Yes, by that logic, it should have come out yesterday, I
know. I’ll try for Monday next time. Want it weekly? Feed me
more lines, as the song says -
screamingindigital@yahoogroups.com is the address.
This issue is a little bit short, since there weren’t any longer
bits sent in for me to include as reviews, articles or features.
So - if you’d like to go on for a few paragraphs about a recent
Queensryche release, concert or encounter, or something else
somewhat related, by all means send it in. Anyway, there might
be something in here you didn’t already know, so on with it.
Screaming in Digital - Issue 278
April 15th, 2002
If you’ve ever seen Screaming in Digital before, you probably notice
something different this time. No, it’s not that it’s been a different
number of days (93?) since the last issue than it ever was before…
Yes, I’ve sold my soul to Yahoo! and turned this into a Yahoo! Group.
So why did I decide to Yahoo!? Well, there are a few reasons. I’ve
wished I had a decent e-mail system ever since I moved this onto the
web in 1995. I do now. SiDchat ate itself last winter, and this comes
with a real-time Java chat. Archives, links, and things like that are
easy to organize, and it’s all accessible even if my DSL line dies.
Of course, there are some disadvantages, too. Yahoo! insists on
displaying banner ads, which I tended not to do on my own sites (but
then again, only a few people were kind enough to make a donation
toward running the sites without ads, so… c’est la vie!
About the gap since the last issue… I have an alibi! As some folks
know, my job at Cheap Tickets
went away at the end of February. January and February were mostly spent
haggling over what work would come after that job, a house purchase, and
things like that. Then in March, we moved and settled in. I’m working
as a tech contractor, am the new Executive Director of the
SpamCon Foundation, and keeping
my eyes out for additional gigs. Things are just now beginning to
approach something resembling “sanity” again.
Anyway, on with the show!
