Endings and beginnings.
September 3rd, 2006Fifteen years ago, as a 20-year-old college drop-out, I was introduced to Queensrÿche. Next month, it’ll be fifteen years since Screaming in Digital was started. Things tapered off somewhat after the first several years, due to my career, parenting, moving around, and all manner of other factors. The last couple years have been especially slow, and I know that’s my fault - after all, the band has been active!
For several years, I’ve wanted to turn ol’ “SiD” into something that wasn’t just “mine.” Something that was a bit more community-driven, and importantly, something that could reward people other than me. And, well, better late than never.
So here it is. A new incarnation of Screaming in Digital where all of us can post, comment, discuss, and so on. If you want to do more than read, yes, you have to register (to minimize, if not eliminate, the time I spend cleaning out spam comments)… but there are other benefits and surprises in store for those who do register.
More on those later.
‘Ryche on!

Thanks for re-starting the site, Dan. I’m so glad for one more place to harrass you!
Actually, I’m looking forward to the lively conversation that SiD was known for.

Dan,
Isn’t Wordpress great? I think this is a fitting revival for SiD. Thanks for all you’ve done over the years. SiD was my first internet “community.” It’s nice to see it have an opportunity to evolve.
Thanks again!

Wow! Well, I just decided to pop back in and check to see if you’d done anything new. Certainly looks like it!
Hopefully this goes well.

I guess I have Queensryche on the brain as I’m going to see them tomorrow night 10/11 in SF. I haven’t checked scream.org in forever but something just told my finger to type it and lookey here. Shag nice to see the site back up. I’ll post some thoughts on tomorrows show on Thursday or Friday.

Need help finding a rare ryche song.
Somewhere in the 1998 to 1999 range, Queensryches old site had a song download that i cannot find anywhere now. It’s a simple acoustic song — just tate and a guitar. I don’t recall the name or the lyrics, but it had something to do with flying, or the sky, or something like that. Anyone, anyone have any ideas?
Sincerely
Mark of NYC

Mark, sorry for the late reply. I believe you’re talking about “Two Mile High”. It was a short song that was used on the Promised Land computer game. You can listen to a rough quality version at www.rychenet.com in Real Media format if you click Enter, then go to Lyrics, and then to B-Sides at the bottom. It’s the last song on the list, and should have a link to listen to a sample (which is the whole song). Can’t download it though.

Oroboros, I couldn’t agree more. SiD was in many ways also my first “community”. I was working for Microsoft in Ireland back in 1993. You had Usenet and some other services, but nothing was like the Screaming in Digital mailinglist, so much good information. I still have that old t-shirt somewhere…:-)
I’ve kind of dropped out on Queensryche after the grunge wave killed them a bit, and especially when DeGarmo left, but I still like the old stuff very much, and the last record have some good moments although I think it’s a dangerous thing to risk harming the first Operation mindcrime masterpiece by releasing a number 2 at this stage.
Anyways, I am greatly thankful for Dan’s work over the years and I will browse this site a bit more often now

Thanks for all your work over the years Dan!! The list was wonderful to read when we did not have the Web back in the old days. Read it always when I was working in Ireland back in 1993. I even have the old t-shirt somewhere:-)

Hey, I`ve just discovered this place and am shocked to see how quiet it is. Is anyone still around?
